Infectious Optimism—Leadership—and Musical Innovation!

Let me start by asking: “How are you?? How are you holding up during the pandemic?!?” This has been an extremely crazy and challenging time for the world and I am sure many are suffering from loneliness, boredom, and stress. I know that I felt a bit nervous after the stay-at-home order was announced and everything began to change. I wondered if I would still have a job, I was concerned about my youngest daughter’s education, I worried about my grown children, their jobs and families, my heart ached for my daughter who is in the Navy aboard the USS Harry Truman, unable to come to shore-- and the list goes on and on and on... I do have faith that we will look back in awe of this situation, and we will pull from it lessons that will last a lifetime. As many of you know, I have been finishing my degree and wrapping up a leadership certificate. I recently had to write a paper about how my leadership journey was going--you know the type--a reflective paper to make sure yo...

What a year!  Moreover, what an incredibly busy several months I have had—  first and absolutely the best... another grandbaby! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!  ...then there is  school (I’m finishing a degree),  there was a pesky little health issue (surgery), and I just bought a house, so I have been actively moving into the new place~whew!    Everything has finally settled down a bit, so I am going to take a moment and write to my amazing community of music lovers. 💓🎵❤️

A New Year--The Dry Buck Bluegrass Band--and...A New Baby!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful celebration bringing in 2019.  I also hope everyone has recovered from the craziness of the holidays and took some time to enjoy the lights.  Our family had our normal Christmas on the 25 th  and then extended out our Christmas through New Years so we could celebrate with the entire family.  By the time it was all said and done I was exhausted!  Nevertheless, it was worth all the effort because there is nothing like having a houseful of kids and grandkids surrounding the table.  Of course, the biggest and best event that took place over the last month was I added another grandbaby girl to my tribe!  Whew~~!  I think I have finally caught my breath and I can now fill you in on some of my melodious thoughts.

The Fabulous Chancellors—Boise Spectrum—A Perfect Night

Welcome to the next edition of The Melody Post .  As I mentioned in my last newsletter, there were some excellent local artists with several concerts scheduled for the month of July.  I hope you were able to attend a few.  I personally decided I would pop into the outdoor concert performed by The Fabulous Chancellors that was held at the Edwards Boise Stadium 21 .  I had not been to this venue for a concert before and let me tell you… it was a blast!   The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the rockin’ music of The Fabulous Chancellors spilling throughout the Boise Spectrum outdoor courtyard.   Walking down the sidewalk, there was a genuine vacation vibe in the air.  I passed smiling parents with excited children heading to their favorite movie, groups of teenagers milling about (just happy to be out of the house), and a multitude of individuals eating and enjoying the many restaurant patio areas.  As I...

Idaho—Truly a Treasure—Glimmering with Talent

Hello music enthusiasts! Can you believe that it is already Mid-July? —the sun is shining, the parks are vibrant with playful children, the rivers are embracing all the eager floaters and...  the music lovers of the Treasure Valley are looking for fabulous venues overflowing with talent.  It is true that our area has been dubbed  The Gem State  because of all its natural beauty and resources—however, I’m here to tell you that this title also applies to the abundance of gifted musicians speckled throughout our basin—THEY are truly the hidden jewels of our community.   Working in a music store, I have the privilege of brushing shoulders with many brilliant performers.   It is for this reason I have decided that once a month I will compile a list of different artists that I feel deserve a big shoutout from little ol' me.  So, let’s get started…
