A New Year--The Dry Buck Bluegrass Band--and...A New Baby!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful celebration bringing in 2019.  I also hope everyone has recovered from the craziness of the holidays and took some time to enjoy the lights.  Our family had our normal Christmas on the 25th and then extended out our Christmas through New Years so we could celebrate with the entire family.  By the time it was all said and done I was exhausted!  Nevertheless, it was worth all the effort because there is nothing like having a houseful of kids and grandkids surrounding the table.  Of course, the biggest and best event that took place over the last month was I added another grandbaby girl to my tribe!
Whew~~!  I think I have finally caught my breath and I can now fill you in on some of my melodious thoughts.

During December I took some time to visit Broadway on the Rocks to listen to the Dry Buck bluegrass band.   This high energy group did not disappoint!   Their playlist was filled with favorites such as “Little Girl of Mine From Tennesee,” “Midnight on the Highway,” and “Molly Rose.”  Besides enjoying the combined talents of Rand Thompson (Vocals, Mandolin), David Skipper ( Vocals, Guitar), Doug Jenkins (Fiddle), Matthew Skipper (Guitar and Mandolin), and Mark Stolpe ( Bass), I also enjoyed the pure joy they exude when they are all playing together.  It is clear that they are having a great time, and this radiated throughout the concert area and spilled throughout the entire store.

As venues go, it is no secret that Broadway on the Rocks is one of my favorite concert locations to frequent.  It is minutes from my house, and it allows me to multitask--since it is also my go-to grocery store.  However, over and above this, it is genuinely a great way to hang-out on a date or bring the entire family.

Here is a little snipet from Dry Buck :)

With the upcoming holiday of Valentine’s Day, I think the focus should be on all the different events that will be made available for both those who have a Valentine and those who are lovin’ the single life.

A few of these suggestions are not taking place on February 14th... but it is never too early to get the love vibes flowing. :)

  • February 8th & 9th--Open Mic Night   Since I have shared Broadway on the Rocks a couple of time, how about showing off your own personal talents at their Open Mic Night?  Sign up now to get in on the fun!
