Idaho—Truly a Treasure—Glimmering with Talent

Hello music enthusiasts!

Can you believe that it is already Mid-July? —the sun is shining, the parks are vibrant with playful children, the rivers are embracing all the eager floaters and...  the music lovers of the Treasure Valley are looking for fabulous venues overflowing with talent.  It is true that our area has been dubbed The Gem State because of all its natural beauty and resources—however, I’m here to tell you that this title also applies to the abundance of gifted musicians speckled throughout our basin—THEY are truly the hidden jewels of our community.

Working in a music store, I have the privilege of brushing shoulders with many brilliant performers.   It is for this reason I have decided that once a month I will compile a list of different artists that I feel deserve a big shoutout from little ol' me.

So, let’s get started…

For the Month of July, I have chosen a handful of performers and events to get you started.  As I continue to update the information, I will add more highlights of different artists and include their events on the calendar.

Showcased this month are:  Addam Chavarria, The Fabulous Chancellors, Blaze and Kelly and a benefit concert for The Shoe that Grows that will be taking place at Dunkley Music, featuring the artists Reyes Berrios, Marvin Blickenstaff, Keelan Dimick, Kairy Koshoeva and Charl Louw.  If you see an artist on this site, then I have personally viewed their performance and I am vouching for their excellence—you will not regret taking a moment to relax and enjoy the music they create.  Some locations may be over 21, so make sure to check with the venue before you head over.  I have made this mistake with my youngest daughter and, thankfully the band was playing outdoors, so we were able to sit just outside the over 21 perimeters and continue our mommy-daughter night.

Here are links to the venues that are featured in this month's calendar.

Legends Pub and Grill
Dunkley Music
Ste Chapelle Winery
Homestead Bar and Grill

Each name is a link so you can visit their website and get a feel for their musical style.

Addam Chavarria – Smooth vocals with a unique indie rock feel.  Addam’s kickback style and engaging personality will leave you hoping the night never ends.
The Fabulous Chancellors – A band that is full of fun with high-test rock-n-roll classics—you seriously can’t stop yourself from dancing the night away.

Blaze and Kelly– Two female singers who are each talented as soloists.  Then you add their extremely tight harmonies and folk-rock melodies, and suddenly you're under their spell and searching for their songs for download.

The Shoe That Grows Benefit – This organization has designed a shoe that literally will expand 5 sizes to fit a growing foot.  Their goal is to get these shoes on the feet of every child in need.  To help with the cost of such an endeavor, Dunkley Music is hosting a benefit concert with five talented musicians.  This is a free event, but donations are very much appreciated.
The talented Reyes Berrios, Marvin Blickenstaff, Keelan Dimick, Kairy Koshoeva, and Charl Louw will be performing a myriad of beautiful classical pieces.

Future plans for The Melody Post will include information that highlights why I like the artists I am suggesting and positive reviews of my experiences after I attend.  I will also write about the ambiance of the different venues so you will have a general knowledge of the setting before you make plans (such as age restrictions).

A New Year--The Dry Buck Bluegrass Band--and...A New Baby!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful celebration bringing in 2019.  I also hope everyone has recovered from the craziness of the holidays and took some time to enjoy the lights.  Our family had our normal Christmas on the 25 th  and then extended out our Christmas through New Years so we could celebrate with the entire family.  By the time it was all said and done I was exhausted!  Nevertheless, it was worth all the effort because there is nothing like having a houseful of kids and grandkids surrounding the table.  Of course, the biggest and best event that took place over the last month was I added another grandbaby girl to my tribe!  Whew~~!  I think I have finally caught my breath and I can now fill you in on some of my melodious thoughts.

Hello Roaring 20's--Here's to Health, Happiness and Lots and LOTS of Peace!!

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” --   and I hope everyone has enjoyed all the Holiday festivities and you are looking forward to a fantastic 2020!
